Abusing Resources

Someone commented online to me:

The funniest thing is the Mayor calling the Sheriff to investigate.

Dude, you have to investigate yourselves first, before law enforcement gets involved.

And no forensic accounting still, months in, and whomever is thieving is probably still, and now, covering tracks, while the useless government sits and does even more nothing.

Absolutely, 100% this! Yes, the mayor needed do his own the research before calling in the Sheriff. I have been telling everyone exactly what you just said.

When Walmart thinks someone has stolen from them, they review the receipts, check the security footage, consult their loss prevention staff, and investigate what happened. Then if, and I mean IF they uncover evidence of a crime, law enforcement is notified, a report is filed, and the evidence Walmart gathered is turned over to law enforcement.

What this mayor did instead was attempt to distract the public and absolve himself and his cohorts by waving a magic wand, announce that the Sheriff is investigating a possible crime, and in a weak sauce way attempt to paint themselves as victims. They ignored the necessary step of doing their own due diligence. He is wasting the Sheriff's Office's resources, and it comes off as a lame attempt to evade accountability.

If the mayor were worth a dime, he would have investigated the supposed problem by having his office do a forensic audit first instead of just pawning it off on the sheriff's office.
